Guide to selling gold in Seville —
Everything you need to know
The gold price is at historic highs. If you have jewellery, antique pieces or gold stored in a drawer, this guide explains how the process works and how to get the best price.
How gold valuation works
The price you receive for your gold depends on two variables: the weight in grams and the purity, expressed in karats or millesimal fineness.
In our shop we weigh with a certified precision scale, always in front of the customer. Purity is analysed with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) equipment in under a minute — the same standard used by refineries.
The resulting price is calculated against the international precious metals market (LBMA) rate in real time. There are no rough estimates or generic prices. Each piece is analysed individually and the price is explained before you decide to sell.
| Karats | Fineness | % pure gold | Most common in |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24k | 999 | 99.9% | Bars and investment coins |
| 22k | 916 | 91.6% | Arabic and Asian jewellery |
| 18k | 750 | 75.0% | Spanish and European jewellery (most common) |
| 14k | 585 | 58.5% | Import jewellery |
| 9k | 375 | 37.5% | Budget jewellery |
Mistakes to avoid when selling gold
Going to a jeweller instead of a gold buyer
Jewellers are not specialised in buying metals. The price they offer is typically 30–40% below market rate.
Not comparing prices
Check at least two places before selling. We explain in detail exactly how we calculate the price.
Selling without seeing the weighing
Always insist that the scale is visible to you. In our shop the weighing is always done in front of the customer.
Not knowing the karat
It is not essential — we analyse it for you. But if you have original receipts, bring them.
What do you need to bring?
Required
- Valid Spanish ID (DNI) or NIE — a legal requirement in Spain for all precious metals transactions
Optional — speeds up the process
- Original purchase receipt if available
- Any certificate of authenticity
- Clean pieces (not required, but makes analysis easier)
If the metal is genuine, we buy it — regardless of the piece's condition or whether you have documentation.
Why sell gold now?
The gold price is at historic highs. Having unused jewellery in a drawer means tying up money that could be available to you today.
Precious metals do not expire — but their price changes every day. Selling at the right time can make a significant difference to the amount you receive.
